Exeter Trail Race Recap

Warning: This race will beat you up and leave you by the side of the trail to die. I rolled both my ankles multiple times and fell once really hard. I thought I was just being clumsy, but after talking to people at the finish, I discovered that those who didn’t hurt themselves were definitely in the minority. The race website claims that this “may be the most technical trail race anywhere in New England”. When I first…

Weekly Training Recap: 06/29/14

Sunday: Ironman 70.3 Syracuse One of the most epic races I have ever done. I will for sure be returning to the Ironman scene in the future. Monday: Rest Tuesday: Bike Commute (16 Miles) + Recovery Yoga + PT: Hips & Feet My quads were preeeeeeetty sore, but some easy biking worked out the lactic acid and helped loosen up my stiff legs. Wednesday: Bike Commute (9 Miles) + Run (3 Miles) + Yoga on a Roll No soreness…

Friday Five in Pictures

  1. I really didn’t want to take off my Ironman bracelet and stickers. I guess you know it was a good race when you feel nostalgic over STICKERS! 2. I was pretty sore and tight for the first few days after the Ironman, so I spent a lot of time using my massage roller, foam rolling, doing yoga and wearing compression socks. Five days later, though my muscles still feel a bit tired, I am feeling MUCH better! 3….

Ironman 70.3 Syracuse: Peter’s Recap

Are you sick of hearing about our race yet? Don’t worry, this will be the last recap! When we do a really epic race like this, I like to ask Peter if he wants to write a race report, too, because I think it’s fun to see the different perspectives. If you missed out on our earlier posts, make sure you check out the recaps that Hannah and I wrote as well (here and here). Here’s how Peter’s race…

Ironman 70.3 Syracuse: Hannah’s Race Recap

In case you missed it, Leah, Peter, John, and I all competed in the Ironman 70.3 Syracuse race this past weekend. Leah wrote her recap yesterday, but she wanted me to post mine on here as well! This race was a little different for me because instead of racing by myself, I had my husband, sister, and brother in-law racing “with” me as well! Also, my parents came to cheer us on. During the race, I quite enjoyed this….

Ironman 70.3 Syracuse Race Recap

As I was laying on the ground after crossing the finish line, Hannah commented, “It’s a whole new level of misery, isn’t it?” My response: “Actually, it’s THREE whole new levels of misery!” A half Ironman race is HARD, no question about it. It’s about as tiring as running a fast 50K, but the intensity level is much more like running a marathon–there’s no taking it easy in the beginning to save your legs like you would for…
