Post 50-Miler Recovery Week #2

Post 50-Miler Recovery Week #2

My week got off to a bad start, as you can tell from my Google searches on Monday. First, there was this: My Achilles pain had not lessened at all during the whole first week after the race, and I was getting discouraged and wondering if it was something more serious than just a bruise (as I originally suspected). So I turned to WebMD to self-diagnose. My worries weren’t put to rest though until I talked to my sister…

Achilles Tendonitis

Achilles Tendonitis

As I mentioned in my race report, while I was running the TARC 50 two weeks ago I experienced agonizing pain in both achilles tendons, and the left one was especially excruciating. Thankfully, I was able to change my shoes at the 30-mile mark, and that took care of the problem! I was able to run the rest of the race without pain, but unfortunately, the damage had already been done. I think that what caused the pain was the heel…

“Would You Rather” Running Survey #2

“Would You Rather” Running Survey #2

We had so much fun with our “Would You Rather” Survey last time that we decided to do another one! Once again, we got this survey from Cori @ OlivetoRun–check her out, she is hilarious! 1. Would you rather run a 5k or a marathon? Hannah: This seems funny, but I would much rather run a marathon! A 5k sounds alluring because it’s so short, BUT the shorter the race, the FASTER you have to run to be competitive!…

Fitness Update

Fitness Update

Well, I’ve been back to my regular workouts for about a month now since recovering from my injury, and I’m feeling great! John and I decided it was time for a fitness update last week. (If you don’t remember, my training calls for a test week every 4th week.) This was the first test week I’ve been able to do since the week before I got injured, so I was nervous. I’ve been re-building my speed and endurance for the…

My Post-50-Mile Recovery Week #1

My Post-50-Mile Recovery Week #1

It’s been a week and two days since I last ran (still recovering from my 50 mile race), and I’m officially starting to go into withdrawal! All last week I was fine with not running–on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday I was still too tired and beat up to even think about running, on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday I resumed my usual biking commute to work and back, and just the half hour each way bike ride was enough to…

TARC 50 Race Photos

TARC 50 Race Photos

We just got our photos from the TARC 50 and 100 Mile Endurance Race yesterday, so I thought I’d share. There aren’t any that I’m super excited about (they didn’t even get me or Peter crossing the finish line!) 🙁 , but it’s nice to have a few more photos so that I can remember the more pleasant moments of the race. 🙂 And thanks to the Trail Animals Running Club and the race sponsor, GU, these photos were…
