TransRockies Trail Run

I am always on the lookout for new and exciting trail races to add to my bucket list, and the TransRockies Trail Run is my newest addition. It’s a 6-day stage race that covers 120 miles and ascends 20,000 feet in elevation. You’ll have to find a partner for this race–they won’t let you do it alone (although there is a 3-day solo race). This is what their website says about the race, “The GORE-TEX® TransRockies Run is a multi-day…

Injury Prevention 101: Foam Roller

How to Use a Foam Roller to Prevent Injuries Many runners don’t realize that they have tight muscles until they are to the point where they are so painful that it hurts to run. A great way to prevent overly tight muscles before they get to that point is by using a foam roller. I assured her that we all have bad runs, even those…

Mile Repeats for Marathon Training

Ahhh, everyone’s favorite…I mean, least favorite workout! Mile repeats of any amount are always a dreaded workout for me, but this time, I had the luxury of doing the workout with my running buddy! I highly recommend doing mile repeats with a partner because they help motivate you, push your limits, share a few laughs and make the whole experience much more enjoyable. My workout was 4Xmile repeats with 2 minutes rest in between. Both of us haaaaate the…

Born to Run Have you ever heard of Born to Run?  It’s a great book by Christopher McDougall about his experience amongst the Tarahumara Indians of Mexico and what they taught him about barefoot running.  Jared and I read the book last year just before starting our training for the Run with Scissors Double Marathon. I highly, highly recommend reading this book.  Before reading it we were still a little on the fence about whether we were gonna do the double…

Eat Whatever You Want ?>

Eat Whatever You Want

Are you looking for some fun and interesting things to motivate you to start running? What if I told you that you could eat whatever, however, and whenever you want and not feel super guilty (ok, there may be some guilt just because it feels rather gluttonous) for your monstrous indulgence? What if I told you that you would still have a ravaging appetite and little-to-no weight gain? There is just one thing you have to do in order to…
